Deputy Chief Mark S. Mura began his career with the Rochester Police Department in 2001, and is currently the Deputy Chief of Community Affairs. Mark grew up in the Charlotte/Greece area and is a U.S. Navy Veteran and a graduate of Thomas University. When he joined the Rochester Police Department, Mark worked as a patrol officer on both sides of the city and was actively involved in Defensive Tactics, Firearms, and Emergency Vehicle Operations training. After being promoted to sergeant, then lieutenant, he worked as the Northwest Neighborhood Service Center Commander. Mark was then promoted to captain in 2018 and subsequently became the Genesee Section Commanding Officer after a brief stint as Staff Duty Officer. He accepted the position of Deputy Chief of Community Affairs in June of 2019.
