Steven Jarose is the Director of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI). He learned of NCBI 20 years ago when his agency adopted the NCBI “Welcoming Diversity” model for its workforce of 3,300 employees. Since then he has applied NCBI leadership principles to all aspects of his job as Director of Staff Development and Training and subsequent community engagement initiatives. As Director of NCBI Rochester, Steven’s areas of expertise include organizational consulting, diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural relations, change management, and creating accessible learning environments for all.
Steven holds a B.S. from Cornell University and a Master’s of Science from Teachers College, Columbia University. He leads many social and racial justice initiatives, is an interfaith minister, and a passionate advocate for hospice care. He also serves as NCBI Affinity Group Leader for the LGBTQ+ caucus. His philosophy is “Being in the right relationship is the key to cultural transformation and systems change. When people truly value one another, outcomes flourish.”
