Jill Paperno​

Jill Paperno is a senior civil rights litigator at the Empire Justice Center.  Before joining Empire Justice, she spent 35 years in the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office, most recently as the First Assistant Public Defender.  Jill’s book, “Representing the Accused: A Practical Guide to Criminal Defense” was published by West Publishing in July of 2012.  Jill served as the president of the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys for the 2015-2016 year, and the Monroe County Bar Association for the 2020-2021 year.  Jill helped to found the Lawyers’ Coalition for Racial and Social Justice and the Monroe County Bar Association President’s Commission on Antiracism.
