In the wake of the horrifying events taking place in Charlottesville in August 2017 and the rising trends of hateful rhetoric and polarization in the greater Rochester area, Todd Levine met with leadership at the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester and presented a generous four-year, $1 million transformational grant from the William and Mildred Levine Foundation to establish the Levine Center to End Hate.

In the fall of 2018, a steering committee was assembled to comprise local leaders in business, nonprofit, government, philanthropy, and law enforcement. Diverse in age, race, gender, religion, and sexual orientation, the steering committee has set the Levine Center to End Hate on course to develop and amplify anti-bias efforts across greater Rochester.
